Welcome!

Thank you for visiting. I’m Thomas Kerr—an illustrator, educator, and long-practicing observer of the world around me. I’ve been making illustration in New York City since 1988, creating images for major news outlets, national opinion pages, and a broad range of editorial clients. My work has been syndicated over the years by United Media and, more recently, through INX and Now What Media.

I’m a graduate of the Alberta College of Art & Design and hold an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts. Alongside my studio practice, I’m also a tenured professor, committed to helping new generations of artists develop strong visual thinking, craftsmanship, and curiosity.

Here you’ll find a selection of recent illustration, sketchbook work, projects, and occasional reflections on drawing, teaching, and the peculiar joys of living by the pen. Whether you’re an art director, fellow illustrator, former student, or simply someone who appreciates pictures that try to say something—welcome. I’m glad you stopped by.
