For as long as I’ve been drawing—going back to my college days—I’ve made a point of returning to the human figure every week. Working from the nude has always been the most direct way for me to stay sharp, stay honest, and stay connected to the fundamentals.
The studies featured here were created in a range of media: quill and ink, watercolor, charcoal pencil—often whatever happens to be in my hand when the model takes the pose. Time limits run anywhere from quick five-minute bursts to more measured forty-minute sessions, each one its own small exploration of gesture, structure, and presence.
